What's the difference between Laminate and Melamine surfaces for whiteboards?

Laminate surface for the whiteboards have two methods. First method is to press thin paper on boards with a pressure of 300 to 500 psi. This called direct pressure laminate or low-pressure laminate. The second method is to press over 6-8 layers of kraft paper on boards with a very high pressure of 1400psi. This called high-pressure laminate.

Melamine is the product of first method (low-pressure laminate). For the second method formica could be a good example.

The main difference among the melamine and the high-pressure laminate is the durability of the surface.
